Tour’s Program

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor by an air-conditioned car to go to the Valley of the Artisans (also known as Deir El-Medina and Valley of the Workers). This is the place where the workmen of the royal tombs used to live. The entire village has been completely excavated by archeologists. The village was inhabited by workmen who were responsible for the construction and decoration of the royal tombs, but also for the texts written on the walls of the tombs, which offer a unique view into the daily life of an ancient Egyptian community. After visiting the workers village, you will head on to the Valley of the Nobles. Although very small in size, these tombs include some of the most beautiful paintings of the Theban tombs. The preservation of color remains astounding. Here, you will visit the two most beautiful tombs: The Tomb of Nakht and the Tomb of Menna. After these tombs you will be transported to the Temple of Ramses II, also know as Ramesseum. Ramesseum is a mortuary temple built during the era of Ramses II. Here you can see his great statue that has reportedly been described in the poem "Ozymandias" by PB Shelley. Finally, you visit the Temple of Ramses III (Medinat Habu). Medinat Habu consists of a palace and a town enclosed within a defensive wall. Entry is through the High Gate, or Migdol, which in appearance resembles a citadel.
After touring the sites you will be transferred back to your hotel by an air-conditioned vehicle.
